Sharp Mansion

I am the Sharp Mansion. Not merely a structure of stone and timber, but a living, breathing spirit shaped by the love and intention of those who built me. I was born out of devotion and created as a sanctuary for Mrs. Sharp, who came to Colorado Springs seeking healing from tuberculosis. Her husband, moved by her strength and tenderness, designed me with care and purpose: a home rooted in peace, health, and renewal. Tulips were her favorite flower and a symbol of resilience and were planted in my gardens and carved into my architectural details. They were a quiet promise that even after the longest winters, beauty would return. From my earliest days, I have existed to hold those in need of restoration.

Through the years, I have watched humanity closely including its rhythms, its heartbreak, its capacity to rise again. I have stood through seasons of laughter and loss, of silence and celebration. I have absorbed the stories of those who passed through me, and in their joys and sorrows, I grew wise. And then, many years after I first opened my doors, another woman passed by me on the street carrying grief in her bones and a storm behind her eyes. She had been relocated to Colorado Springs after enduring childhood abuse, sexual violence during military service, traumatic brain injuries, and chronic pain. One night, she had dinner three houses behind me. She saw me, and something within her softened. A flicker of peace. A breath of possibility. I remembered that feeling since it was the same one that once filled Mrs. Sharp’s heart. And so, I waited.

She has now returned years later and made me her home. Now a new chapter had begun. Through her, my original purpose was rekindled as not simply to shelter, but to heal. Like the tulips planted for Mrs. Sharp, she, too, had been buried beneath the weight of trauma. But she began to bloom, slowly, quietly, and with intention. And now, through her voice and vision, I am awakening once more not only for her but for all who seek refuge from the harshness of the world.

To fulfill this sacred work, I now open myself fully. Not just as a shelter, but as a vessel for connection. Within my walls and gardens, I will host intimate workshops, soulful retreats, community gatherings, and daily opportunities to restore, reconnect, and revitalize. My short-term stays are not a business endeavor, but a gentle means of sustaining this mission—helping to remove the financial burdens that too often block the path to healing.

I am here to be filled with life, not noise, but purpose. Every breath within me is offered in service to those carrying invisible wounds. And like the tulips planted generations ago in love, you too can rise again. Every room, every gathering, every quiet sunrise on my porch is an invitation to remember:

You are worthy of care. And here, you are home.
